When it comes to burying the dead, it makes no difference to the dead which land their bodies rest. But to the living, there are sentimental aspects that determine its value. One of these aspects concerns the character of the dead body during his latter lifetime. For if a person buried in a certain location is as meritorious as Abraham Lincoln or Albert Einstein, people in that city, town or neighborhood will feel greatly honored. Another aspect has a lot to do with the reputation of the place. This will either be relative to the other characters buried in these cemeteries or the history of the place.
Fortunately, Canada is a very decent and quiet country to live in. It may as well be a very serene place to die if one prefer to live the last remaining days of their lives in relative peace and tranquility. These are examples of interred icons who have made a mark and helped shaped history as we know it:
Louis-Joseph de Montcalm
He may not exactly fall in the category of “celebrity” in contemporary timeframe because setting him in today’s standards would only do grave injustice to his legacy. For French-speaking Canadians, it is hard to imagine its local history without this 18th Century national hero. Unlike other important personalities that helped govern New France (Canada), this man’s corpse wasn’t shipped back to the motherland.
Frederick Banting
All people who suffer from diabetes should pay their respects in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. If not for this man, one can’t imagine how vastly different mankind’s population will be with every diabetic in need of his greatest Nobel Prize invention – the insulin.
Terry Fox
Can you run in one leg? If your answer is no, this man has just smiled at you from heaven. Terry Fox is best known for his humanitarian activism, especially by running a marathon in dual organic-bionic pair of legs. Anyone who survived cancer is welcome to visit British Columbia, the place of his memorials. He ran a total of 5,373 kilometers for cancer research.
Owen Hart
Anyone who is a fan of professional wrestling is doing this sports entertainment industry a great disservice for not recognizing this guy. Owen Hart was one of the biggest names in the World Wrestling Entertainment along with other celebrities like Hulk Hogan, Iron Sheik, Yokozuna and his brother Bret.
