What is a Funeral Coordinator?

Coordinating and arranging a loved one’s funeral during a time of loss is not an easy task. It is quite handful. There are days that one cannot fully function well mentally and physically due to the ordeal that one has just faced. And if we feel incapacitated, we need help.

This help during a time of crisis is well managed by a Funeral Coordinator. Another title that they are known for is Funeral Director. A Funeral Coordinator or Director is a licensed person who offers several burial services, from the time the body is moved to the mortuary up until a dead person’s post memorial services; this person is of great help and assistance.

The scope of task that a Funeral Coordinator includes the following:

  1. Moving the body in a mortuary

Usually, a coordinator arranges a certain funeral home to fetch a dead person’s body from the person’s death place onto a mortuary. If the coordinator is the owner of the funeral home, the family usually contacts that person to arrange everything for them.

  1. Preparation and embalming or cremation of remains

Not all coordinators are able to do embalming. However, for some states and areas, in order for a funeral coordinator to obtain their licenses, they require a coordinator to study and practice embalming. If the coordinator happens to not do this procedure, he makes sure that the embalming process is done correctly. If the deceased chooses cremation, the funeral coordinator then makes the necessary arrangements in order for the cremation of the remains be done.

  1.  Arranging the ceremony of the deceased

The funeral coordinator is the person who makes sure that the funeral home is booked on time, the funeral ceremony runs smoothly, the flowers are arranged and all the other extras needed are done.

  1. Preparing paperwork

He is responsible for registering the dead in any corresponding government agency.

  1. Carrying out the final disposition of the remains

Arranges for the burial of remains; responsible for the logistics in transferring the body of the dead into its final resting place.

With that in mind, a Funeral Coordinator is a great addition in helping the deceased lift a heavy burden off their chest. Now those who were left can now focus on mourning and moving forward.
